Recently, gaming media outlet Insider Gaming officially admitted that its previous report about the hacker group Cyberleek threatening to leak the full version of GTA 6 was erroneous. The original article has been deleted, and an apology has been issued.
Previously, Insider Gaming published a report based on an image and related sources, claiming that Cyberleek would release the full version of the game if Rockstar Games and Take-Two continued to pursue the hackers. However, subsequent investigations revealed that the screenshot was not linked to Cyberleek, and rumors stemming from it quickly spread within the player community.
It was precisely this report by Insider Gaming that became a crucial link in the chain of misinformation. Prominent blogger MoistCr1TiKaL even released a dedicated video on the rumor, using a screenshot of Insider Gaming's article as the video thumbnail, further fueling the hype.
Now, Insider Gaming has publicly admitted its mistake and issued an apology. The article's author stated that the report has been deleted and attributed the incident to a personal error in news reporting. Insider Gaming also pointed out that this incident highlights the chain reaction that can be triggered by unverified information once it is published by the media.
Furthermore, Insider Gaming specifically emphasized that there is currently no evidence to suggest that Cyberleek actually possesses the complete development build of GTA 6. Claims that the group has an "automatic release system"—allegedly capable of automatically publishing game files if members are arrested—have also not been verified.
