Now, the latest leak reportedly comes from the game's prologue, showing Lucia in prison, a scenario previously hinted at in GTA VI's official trailer.
The leaked prologue content revealed some of Lucia's backstory, sparking various player speculations about her subsequent plot development. Some online players speculate that Lucia might strike a deal with federal agents, trading out her partner Jason in exchange for release from prison. This type of plot has been told countless times in films and games, so hopefully Rockstar can come up with something more interesting.
GTA VI's first trailer was released in 2023, featuring Tom Petty's song "Love Is a Long Road" as background music. Many believe the choice of this song was deliberate, and the lyrics support this notion. In the song, Petty sings about a girl he knows who "says she cares about me," but also points out that "love is a long road," full of twists and turns.
Rockstar previously invited some people to playtest GTA VI and interact with the developers. A report by Dazed confirmed new details regarding the relationship between Jason and Lucia. Rupert Humphries, Senior Vice President of Narrative at Rockstar, stated that GTA VI's story adopts a "Bonnie and Clyde-style narrative." If Rockstar truly follows this storyline, Jason and Lucia's ending could be quite grim.
According to reports, players can choose to play as either Jason or Lucia, or play "as a couple." The game features a "fluid system" where players can start as Jason or Lucia driving a speedboat, then switch to the other character to shoot enemies from the passenger seat. Players can also sit in different seats and ride jet skis together.
The official plot summary for GTA VI states that after a "casual job goes wrong," Jason and Lucia "find themselves on the darkest side of America's sunniest place, caught up in a criminal conspiracy spanning Leonida." The summary also mentions that Jason and Lucia "must rely on each other more than ever before to survive."
