"Kumarn: The Wandering Spirit" is a single-player horror adventure game. Players will follow the young spirit "Kumarn" and his companion "Zeb" on a terrifying journey to find their way home. Kumarn and Zeb were once village guardians, where humans and spirits coexisted peacefully, and the two spirits brought good luck, prosperity, and protection to the villagers. However, a forbidden ritual abducted them from their shrine, plunging them into a nightmare world filled with whispering forests, abandoned villages, and submerged temples. Even more terrifying, various twisted monsters and restless ghosts from Thai legends have become real horrifying creatures here.
Facing terrifying spirits far more powerful than themselves, players cannot choose to fight head-on. Instead, they must use stealth, environmental interactions, and distractions to find escape routes. Every encounter in the game will test the player's timing and action skills. Players need to hide their tracks, find safe areas while being hunted by monsters, and solve puzzles using the environment. Additionally, the game features a unique sacred lantern mechanic. Players can use the lantern to manipulate the surrounding environment, change certain elements in the scene to open new paths, and also use it to conceal their presence. Besides stealth and puzzle-solving, the game also incorporates platforming elements. Players will progress through scenes such as forests, abandoned villages, and ancient temples, encountering spirits with different abilities and tragic pasts.
