Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo recently revealed in an interview that the remake series for The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky won't stop with the upcoming release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. The development team has already begun discussing their next steps—whether to remake The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd or Zero no Kiseki—and the president's statement has given players some long-term reassurance.
In an interview with GungHo Online America, Toshihiro Kondo stated that the Trails in the Sky remake series was positioned from the start as a "gateway" to attract new players into the Trails series and even the broader JRPG genre. He emphasized that giving new players the chance to experience the story from the series' origins is one of the most important goals of the remake project.
This is the fundamental reason behind Kondo's decision to "keep going." If new players finish The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC and jump straight to the latest mainline entry, Beyond Genesis, they would face a huge gap in understanding the story. Therefore, to allow new players to smoothly enjoy the entire series, the team hopes to "continue remaking titles for a while."
Kondo revealed an interesting detail: after The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC entered its final development stage, the team couldn't help but start discussing "what's next"—would it be The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd or Zero no Kiseki?
Although there is no official conclusion yet, Kondo clearly stated: "If we do make another title after The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, we hope everyone will continue to support us then."
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC Remake will launch globally on September 17, 2026, on PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam). A free demo is currently available, with save data carrying over to the full version.
