This price adjustment even sparked a controversy: ASUS canceled a customer's RTX 5090 order due to the price change and informed them that they would need to pay a higher price to complete the purchase.
According to Reddit user u/IndependentOK1301, he purchased an ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 for $4,607 (approximately RMB 33,170), but the order was later canceled due to a price increase, and he was asked to complete the transaction again at $5,090 (approximately RMB 36,650).
The user mentioned in the post that both ASUS and NVIDIA were passing the buck, each directing him to contact the other party to resolve the issue. Notably, the original price of $4,607 was already more than double the official MSRP of the RTX 5090.
It is reported that the order was initially placed directly through NVIDIA, but NVIDIA blamed ASUS for canceling the order. This process undoubtedly caused great inconvenience to the buyer.
Ultimately, ASUS refunded the original order amount, leaving the buyer with no choice but to purchase the RTX 5090 at the new price of nearly $5,090. This incident once again highlights the severe situation currently facing the PC hardware market.
