Apple's First Foldable Phone: iPhone Ultra New Colorway Revealed

Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Ultra, is expected to officially launch this September. As the release date approaches, more details about the new device are gradually being revealed.

Recently, leaker Sonny Dickson shared images of two camera protection accessories allegedly for the iPhone Ultra, featuring silver and deep blue designs respectively. This may hint at the initial color options for the iPhone Ultra.

It is important to note that the leaked items are not official Apple accessories but products made in advance by third-party manufacturers based on supply chain information. Therefore, the final color options should still be confirmed by Apple's official announcement.

However, Sonny Dickson has previously leaked Apple product designs ahead of time through accessories like phone cases and covers, so this latest leak still holds some reference value.

Earlier this February, reports suggested that the iPhone Ultra would not feature overly vibrant color options. Instead, it is expected to offer two more subdued choices: dark gray or black, and white or light silver.

Based on this latest leak, Apple may have adjusted its previously tested dark gray option to a more distinctive deep blue, while the silver version remains largely consistent with earlier rumors.

In terms of display, the iPhone Ultra will feature a dual-screen design. The outer screen will be approximately 5.49 inches with a resolution of 2088 x 1422, while the inner screen, when unfolded, will measure about 7.76 inches with a resolution of 2713 x 1920.

As Apple's first foldable phone, the crease performance will also be a major highlight of the iPhone Ultra.

Reportedly, to achieve a nearly crease-free screen effect, the iPhone Ultra will utilize a liquid metal hinge. This material is approximately 2.5 times stronger than titanium alloy, allowing for enhanced hinge strength while better controlling deformation in the folding area.

However, processing liquid metal is highly challenging, with current industry yield rates around 65%. Improving mass production yields will be one of the main challenges facing the large-scale production of the iPhone Ultra.
