The incident began when a fan asked Kamiya: In the original Devil May Cry, is the mysterious giant dragon that appears during the battle with the final boss, Mundus, related to Vergil's ability to condense his fighting spirit into a sword, or is it some kind of familiar?
In his reply, Hideki Kamiya wrote, "Everythinggj will become clear when I take the helm of the Devil May Cry series again..." This statement quickly gained traction within the player community, seen as a significant signal that the renowned producer might return to the Devil May Cry series.
However, Kamiya did not confirm that he is currently involved in any new projects; his remarks were more an expression of intent rather than an official project announcement.
Hideki Kamiya directed the first Devil May Cry game in 2001. The title originally originated from an early prototype of Resident Evil 4 but was spun off into its own project due to its unique style and fast-paced combat system, setting the tone for the entire series. The protagonist, Dante, thus became one of Capcom's most iconic video game characters.
Kamiya left Capcom in 2006 to co-found PlatinumGames, where he led the development of titles such as Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101. He departed from PlatinumGames in October 2023 and is currently leading his newly established studio, "Clovers," in developing the new title Project G.G.
