A Gift for The Legend of Zelda's 40th Anniversary? Switch 2 Limited Edition Packaging Surfaces Online

Recently, a set of packaging design images allegedly for the The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 console and Pro Controller were exposed online, with the images leaking on August 11. Nintendo has not yet released any official information, and neither the price nor the release date has been confirmed.

According to the leaked packaging images, this commemorative hardware does not appear to be directly tied to the rumored remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but instead adopts broader branding for the series' 40th anniversary.

From a design perspective, the console itself is expected to come with black and dark green Joy-Con 2 controllers, adorned with the Triforce pattern. The dock features a black and gold color scheme, also bearing the Triforce logo. The Pro Controller continues the same black, green, and gold color palette, decorated with the Royal Crest in the center, and appears to have an image of Link's fairy from the original The Legend of Zelda printed on the back.

Brazilian journalist and Universo Nintendo editor-in-chief Felipe Lima confirmed the authenticity of the leaked images on social media, stating that the two devices matched exactly what he had seen previously. Lima's leaks carry some credibility, as he accurately leaked the Switch 2 logo in January 2025, prior to Nintendo's official announcement. With the product packaging now leaked, there is widespread speculation that Nintendo may soon host a The Legend of Zelda-themed Direct presentation to officially announce plans for the series' 40th anniversary.
