Following its release on August 6, Marvel Rivals reached a peak concurrent player count of 24,498 on Steam. This fighting game developed by Arc System Works made a solid debut on Valve's platform, although early player reception was affected by technical issues.
This launch peak allowed Marvel Rivals to surpass several well-known fighting games on Steam. Its launch figures exceeded those of DNF Duel (12,331 players), The King of Fighters XV (8,226 players), and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising (7,278 players). However, it still trailed behind Dragon Ball FighterZ (44,303 players), Tekken 8 (49,977 players), Street Fighter 6 (72,977 players), and Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (122,554 players).
The game currently holds a 44% positive review rating on Steam, with many reviews citing severe performance issues. Despite strong initial player numbers, these technical problems appear to have immediately impacted early player sentiment.
Additionally, due to Sony's regional restrictions, Marvel Rivals is unavailable for purchase in 116 countries, which has limited its reach on Steam.
Developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel Rivals is a 2.5D team-based fighting game featuring heroes and villains from Marvel Comics. Players form four-member squads sharing a single health bar, with only one active character and one support character available at the start of each match. The remaining team members are gradually unlocked by completing in-match objectives, such as breaking through walls.
