Recently, the cultivation-themed action roguelike game "Huangtian Nitou" launched on Steam and opened its wishlist feature. Blending Eastern mythology with hardcore action experiences, this work uses the Yellow River as its conceptual theme, telling the story of a heavenly catastrophe spanning forty thousand years.

In "Huangtian Nitou," players take on the role of Lu Chen, an "Outer Realm Demon," traversing different eras amidst chaotic spacetime currents. Navigate between various factions, contend with the remnants of the Old Heavenly Dao, evade relentless pursuits from Huangtian, and ultimately uncover the fundamental truths of the Great Dao. To enhance immersion, the game features voice performances by renowned voice actors such as Mu Cheng, Suan Chuhan, and Gong Ming. This is a substantial indie title driven by gameplay, featuring stylized art and a narrative reminiscent of web novels. Currently still in development, it is expected to require over a year more of development time.
"Huangtian Nitou" features top-down action combat, emphasizing the rhythm of close-quarters offense and defense along with impactful clash feedback. The combat design introduces an original "Blade Break" parry system, delivering visceral impact through visual effects like circular shockwaves and purple sparks. Regarding its roguelike elements, the game avoids traditional stat-stacking mechanics, instead offering a deep DIY system—players can completely dismantle and reconstruct weapons, crafting spiritual arms, scavenging magical treasures, and utilizing divine abilities to build their unique combat styles.
