ATLUS has released a new gameplay trailer for Persona 4 Reload, highlighting five new features being added to the remake of this classic RPG. The trailer showcases narrative changes as well as new combat system mechanics that significantly enrich standard battles.
Feature Overview Gameplay:
The most notable addition is full voice acting for events. ATLUS has re-recorded voices for all daily life scenes in Inaba and added numerous story segments that strengthen the connections between the main storyline and expanded Social Link events.
Combat will introduce a "Knockback" mechanic. Normal attacks can knock back Shadows suffering from status ailments. If the knocked-back enemy collides with another Shadow, the two mechanics interact: the collision causes additional damage and transfers the status ailment to the other target. However, this ability can only be used when fighting multiple enemies simultaneously.
The game's soundtrack will also receive new tracks and remixed versions of classic Persona 4 tunes. The music is composed by ATLUS composer Ryota Kozuka, with vocals performed by Shiori Sasaki. This means the remake will not only feature visual and gameplay changes but also a significant expansion of its musical content.
Another new feature is "Baton Pass," a mechanic that first appeared in Persona 5. It allows players to pass their turn to teammates during "1 MORE" mode, facilitating consecutive attacks on different enemy weaknesses and better coordinating the team's actions.
Finally, ATLUS showcased the powerful tactical ability "Golden Hour" mode, which activates after filling a dedicated gauge. This ability grants a series of consecutive actions, eliminates skill costs, ignores enemy resistances, and allows unlimited use of "Baton Pass." The entire combo can be finished with an "All-Out Attack" finisher that deals massive damage.
Persona 4 Reload will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store) on February 18, 2027, and will be available day one on Game Pass.
