The gaming charity SpecialEffect once again hosted the "One Big Game" football event, bringing together developers from across the UK games industry to raise funds for a good cause. As the event came to a close, a total of over £63,000 had been raised to help players with physical disabilities.
This year, 24 teams played continuous football matches over 24 hours, all hoping to raise a significant amount for SpecialEffect. The organization is dedicated to providing accessible gaming experiences for people with physical disabilities through specialized hardware, such as custom controllers and eye-tracking assistive tools.
The "One Big Game" event has now concluded successfully, raising over £63,000 in total. The entire event can be watched via video replays on SpecialEffect's official Twitch channel.
There were also some exciting matchups during the tournament. Activision faced off against EA, with EA ultimately winning 3-2; Maverick + Friends engaged in a thrilling contest against Playground and Rare. Meanwhile, Xbox competed under the team name "Score more with Xbox," but failed to outscore Jagex, losing 1-2.
SpecialEffect has been hosting this event (and similar ones) for many years, with impressive results each time. As the livestream ended, the hosts hinted at more events to come in the future, which I'm sure everyone will welcome.
