NVIDIA has confirmed that it will release the final version of its GeForce Game Ready driver supporting Windows 10 this October. Starting in November, new game drivers will no longer support this older operating system, with the Studio Creative Driver following the same schedule.
For Windows 10 users, the most direct impact is the lack of day-one driver optimizations for newly released games. After Microsoft ended official support for Windows 10 on October 14 last year, NVIDIA promised an additional year of maintenance, and that period is now coming to an end.
However, Windows 10 users do not need to upgrade immediately. NVIDIA stated that after October 2026, supported GeForce graphics cards will transition to a quarterly security update cycle. These updates will include critical security fixes and continue until October 2029.
In other words, users who remain on Windows 10 can continue using the final game driver from October, but they will no longer receive optimizations for new games or regular updates thereafter, though security maintenance will continue for another three years.
This deadline is part of NVIDIA's established plan announced in 2025, not a new policy; it simply marks the beginning of the implementation phase as October approaches.
