Steam Frame Launch Imminent: Game Developer Leaks Valve's Release Schedule

Valve is about to launch its next VR headset, the Steam Frame, which is the final product in Valve's planned trio of hardware following the Steam Controller and Steam Machine. According to information revealed by the developer of the action shooter "Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone" on their official community page, the release date for the Steam Frame is "just around the corner."

The developer stated that they have decided to launch their game simultaneously with the Steam Frame. However, as Valve has not yet released any official information, they are unable to disclose the specific date. This suggests that Valve will likely make an official announcement in the near future.

Valve had previously confirmed that the Steam Frame would be released in summer 2026. As the launch window approaches, preparations continue to move forward: the Steam Store has launched a "Great on Frame" section specifically recommending games well-suited for the headset; Valve has received 22 batches of Steam Frame units in recent weeks, indicating that inventory is being accumulated; and the headset has obtained FCC certification in the United States, an important step before new hardware hits the market.

Additionally, a dedicated boot animation for the Steam Frame was recently discovered in the Steam client beta, and the new version of SteamOS has added support for the device's wireless adapter.

As of now, Valve has not announced the specific price or official release date for the Steam Frame. However, with software adaptation, content reserves, and hardware certification largely completed, this highly anticipated VR headset is getting closer to its official launch.
