NetherRealm Studios is renowned for its critically acclaimed fighting games. However, since the release of Mortal Kombat 1, the team has remained silent about their next project. Recently, Ed Boon suddenly revealed the latest progress on the Injustice series. He stated that sales of Injustice 2 have approached 10 million copies.
Ed Boon, head of NetherRealm Studios, announced on social media that Injustice 2 has sold over 9 million copies worldwide.
For comparison, this figure places Injustice 2 among NetherRealm Studios' best-selling games. While titles like Mortal Kombat 11 have sold as many as 15 million copies, far surpassing Injustice 2, this DC crossover fighting game has also achieved considerable success.
Currently, discussions about Injustice 3 are endless. Rumors suggest that Injustice 3 is indeed the studio's next game, and if the team's past behavior is any indication, an official announcement may be coming soon.
This game, along with the recently confirmed sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, could bring a miracle to Warner Bros. Games, which is currently facing difficulties.
Injustice 2 was released in December 2017. More than eight years later, it has earned a "Very Positive" rating from players on Steam.
