The updated character features softer facial features, sparking heated discussion in overseas communities. The game will be showcased at Gamescom, where a new story trailer will be released and offline demos will be available.
Compared to early promotional materials, the original version of the female protagonist had sharp facial contours and high recognizability, while the new version features softer, more rounded features. Many international players expressed dissatisfaction, believing the character lost her unique charm and became more generic. Some players accepted the new design, noting that the newly cast voice actor better suited the character's personality. Others joked that the new look resembled Chinese actress Dilraba Dilmurat.
Addressing the controversy over the "face change," producer Fu Kun previously explained in an interview that the female protagonist's facial model itself was not altered; the visual differences between the old and new versions stem from iterative adjustments to lighting and the rendering pipeline. To optimize game performance, the team modified the global illumination system. However, due to the rushed production of this version, visual flaws appeared on the character's face under different lighting conditions. The developers have promised to continue refining the facial lighting in future updates.
