French major game publisher Nacon has recently fallen into financial trouble, leading to layoffs or direct closures at several of its studios. Midgar Studio was announced closed on the 20th of last month, putting the JRPG Edge of Memories currently in development at risk of cancellation. However, today the former head of Midgar Studio posted that the game will not be abandoned and is scheduled for release within 2026.
Developed in Unreal Engine 5, Edge of Memories presents a vibrant, colorful world while exploring powerful themes such as genocide, a plague-ravaged world, the search for origins, and the necessity of adapting to an ever-changing environment.
Edge of Memories will feature dynamic gameplay and real-time combat, delivering a pure action gaming experience. To achieve victory, players must master Erin's abilities, execute spectacular combos with her two companions, and awaken the berserk power lurking within her.
· In fact, the official statement indicates that Edge of Memories is nearly complete. Although the main studio has closed, the remaining work will be handled by certain third-party professionals. The game is still set to be released this year, so stay tuned.
