According to PC Gamer, Bandai Namco has revealed details about the multiplayer mode of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Solferino. Players will enter matches through an online airbase lobby and can control their custom-created pilots within the base.
Players can choose different faces and appearance features for their pilots and use emotes to communicate with others. The base also features a stage and arcade area, where players can enjoy Pac-Man.
Multiplayer matches include two main modes: "Co-op Assault" and "Co-op War." "Co-op Assault" follows competitive PvE rules, where two four-player teams must destroy enemy NPC forces within a time limit, with victory determined by final scores.
"Co-op War" adds PvP elements to score-based competitions, with two teams battling in the same airspace. Destroying NPC targets increases the threat level; higher levels yield greater scoring benefits, but if shot down by opponents, the enemy team gains more points.
After completing these modes and returning to base, players may receive limited-time missions with additional rewards. "Emergency Engagement" requires teams to face off against ace pilots controlled by NPCs, while "Emergency Sortie" tasks players with destroying iconic giant weapons from the Ace Combat series.
Bandai Namco also teased limited-time PvP modes, including 4v4 Deathmatch and an eight-player Free-for-All. As players level up, they can unlock new aircraft, upgrade parts, enhance performance for specific models, and access customization options for pilots and planes.
The game will also feature a Premium Pass with two-month seasons. Bandai Namco stated that aircraft DLC included in the Premium Pass will not be delisted after the season ends, and players will still be able to purchase them individually.
