Rockstar's commercial strategy for GTA VI may far exceed player expectations. Recently, well-known gaming host Adam Sessler revealed during a livestream that he had heard news regarding a GTA VI subscription service, sparking widespread discussion in the community.
Adam Sessler, who previously hosted the X-Play program on TechTV and G4, is currently active on streaming platforms. In his latest livestream, when asked if GTA VI would include a subscription model, he responded: "If some of the things I've heard are true—and I can't go into detail—then that monthly subscription does have its reasons for existing. What interests me more is how they would introduce this model to players if it really happens. Because... wow... if such an announcement were made, I'd probably hide under the table."
Adam is not the only one who has heard about this plan, but no concrete details have leaked so far.
Rockstar has already launched the "GTA+" subscription service, primarily offering additional items and benefits to GTA Online players. Adam's hints seem to point towards a new subscription system independent of the existing GTA+, which could mean that GTA VI will be accompanied by a new generation of GTA Online.
Some also believe that, similar to the distinction between standard and deluxe editions, Rockstar may place more GTA VI content behind a subscription paywall, further expanding its games-as-a-service revenue model. However, as of now, Rockstar has not responded to these rumors.
