Recently, Koei Tecmo announced that the Japanese server of its free-to-play mobile game Resleriana: The Alchemist of Legend ~The Forgotten Alchemy and the Liberator of Polar Night~ will officially cease operations on November 25, 2026. Meanwhile, sales of paid items such as Star Guide Stones have already been halted since August 27.
Resleriana: The Alchemist of Legend launched on iOS and Android in Japan on September 23, 2023, followed by Steam and global versions in early 2024. However, the global version was shut down in March 2025, while the Japanese server lasted another year and a half. At launch, the game sparked controversy over its gacha pricing—a 10-pull cost around 6,000 yen (approximately $40 or 290 RMB at the time)—drawing heavy criticism from players. Koei Tecmo quickly adjusted the pricing in response. Despite this, the game received considerable praise from fans, particularly for its extensive roster featuring alchemists from previous entries and its rich storyline spanning over 30 chapters.
In a "Message from the Development Team," the developers explained that the shutdown was due to the "difficulty in continuing to provide services that meet user expectations." On a positive note, the game has been updated to Chapter 33, covering Resna and her companions' journey to the "End of the Continent." Additionally, the official team announced that a special commemorative website will launch on September 23 to mark the game's third anniversary, along with the release of new story chapters outside the main storyline.
