Recently, Ben Tsai, a former executive at The Pokémon Company, was indicted by the King County Superior Court for allegedly installing cameras and secretly recording videos in The Pokémon Company's Bellevue office.
According to the indictment, a forensic review of devices seized from his home revealed hundreds of videos allegedly involving surreptitious recording, with 89 of them reportedly taken in restrooms. These videos were stored in folders named "Pokemon 29" and "Pokemon 27."
Investigators reported that Ben Tsai admitted to secretly recording others "no more than 50 times" since 2017, and confessed to installing cameras in his workplace, home, and two retail stores. He claimed his motive for secret recording was "curiosity about transgender individuals," and confirmed that there were transgender employees at The Pokémon Company's office. Among the discovered videos, in addition to footage and images of children, employees, and members of the public "partially undressed," there were also videos depicting adult nudity and child sexual abuse.
Ben Tsai is currently being held at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent on $500,000 bail, facing multiple charges including violations of Washington State's anti-discrimination laws. The court is seeking to initiate a class-action lawsuit, encouraging all women and girls who used the restroom facilities at the Bellevue office between 2017 and July 2026 to join the litigation.
