According to insider Rebs Gaming, Microsoft is exploring collaboration between Activision and the Halo studio, with Call of Duty developer Sledgehammer Games set to develop a brand-new multiplayer title for the series.
The video cites reliable sources stating that Activision will help develop Halo and has already created a prototype.
"Microsoft is considering having Activision assist in the development of the Halo series, including having Sledgehammer Games develop Halo multiplayer."
In June this year, the Call of Duty developer tested a prototype based on a new Halo concept. The prototype only included basic game mechanics such as movement. According to Rebs, the project was canceled in July. However, this does not mean that Activision will not develop new Halo games, as Microsoft is still considering collaboration between the two parties.
No projects have been approved yet, but insiders suggest that as outsourcing becomes the norm for Halo, Activision and Sledgehammer are likely to collaborate on multiplayer projects.
