Trine 6 Delayed to March 4, 2027

Recently, developer Frozenbyte and publisher Cooldown Games announced that Trine 6, originally scheduled for release on September 17, 2026, has been delayed and will now launch on March 4, 2027. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The delay of Trine 6 is due to the large amount of player feedback received during the previous closed beta. The team will use the additional development time to add two independent puzzle-solving mechanics that run through all levels, while also polishing combat feel, camera presentation, tutorial guidance, and the online multiplayer system, further enhancing the unique characteristics of the three classic protagonists.

The complete mechanics for the two major puzzle modes include: Free Mode, which offers open-ended puzzle solutions, allowing players to freely choose their preferred characters and skills to clear levels, providing more flexible and free-form solutions. Classic Mode, which pays homage to the early entries in the series, with puzzles designed around specific character-exclusive abilities; single-player requires frequent character switching, while co-op play tests teamwork even more.

Both modes support single-player and 2-4 player local/online co-op. Players can switch between modes at any time during gameplay without disrupting overall progress. Switching modes within a level requires reloading the level layout from the most recent checkpoint. Puzzle mode operates independently of combat difficulty settings, so they do not interfere with each other.
