CD Projekt RED Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski recently revealed that the studio plans to increase its overall game release frequency, but made it clear that it will not compromise on quality in any way.
Nowakowski emphasized that flagship projects on the scale of The Witcher 4 cannot be completed under aggressive cost-cutting measures. He also confirmed that this highly anticipated sequel is currently running smoothly on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with development progressing well.
In the face of rising development costs, Nowakowski stated that the studio will closely monitor its financial situation, but its primary task remains providing a flawless experience without compromise. Management firmly believes that AAA titles defining industry standards require sufficient resources, and cutting costs for the sake of cutting costs would only be counterproductive.
When asked about potential delays for next-gen consoles, Nowakowski expressed no concern at all. He believes current console platforms are performing excellently in attracting casual and semi-casual player groups, noting that "games being easy to launch and simple to pick up remains very important."
Meanwhile, the development team is putting the final touches on the remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This upgraded version will launch on PC and consoles on September 29, and players who already own the original can get it for free. A major highlight of the console version is full support for player mods for the first time, while running on PS5 Pro, the performance mode targets a smooth 90 FPS.
Previous reports have confirmed that The Witcher 4 will receive a physical collector's edition.
