One concept piece, "Big City, Little Spider," was questioned by fans for being created using generative AI, despite being credited to artist Scott McInnis.
In this concept art piece, fans noticed obvious distortions, especially in several taxis. Two cars traveling in different directions appear to be twisted and merged together. A closer look at the rest of the concept art for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" revealed that "Big City, Little Spider" is the only piece that clearly shows signs of AI generation. Distortions, deformations, and strange shapes can also be seen on the fire escape of the building on the left, which are typical errors when AI tries to fill in missing pixels.
Marvel Studios faced controversy over artificial intelligence in 2023 when "Secret Invasion" premiered on Disney+, with its opening credits produced using AI. Since then, AI has become more widespread, raising questions about its application in Hollywood.
