A Plague Tale: Requiem, a new atmospheric action game developed by the French studio Asobo Studio, appeared on foreign torrent sites a full week before its official release.
This unusually early leak was likely caused by unethical industry journalists or bloggers who legally received review copies of the game to prepare pre-release reviews but leaked the installation files online. Since the game only uses standard Steam DRM protection, hackers were able to create a "crack patch" almost instantly.
The story of A Plague Tale: Requiem is set 15 years before the heavy tale of Amicia and Hugo in A Plague Tale: Innocence. The plot centers on Sophia, a young, agile warrior and thief. To escape an army of mercenaries hunting her, she arrives at the eerie Island of Minos. The developers promise new dynamics for players: more close-quarters combat, counterattacks, and parkour moves, as well as solving intricate ancient puzzles using Minos orbs. However, the main threats come from the plague of the past and terrifying mythological creatures linked to the deadly legacy of Macula deep within the labyrinth.
A Plague Tale: Requiem will officially launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S on August 27, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
