Rockstar Games, the parent company of GTA 6, has filed multiple subpoena requests with the Federal District Court to obtain information related to the recent GTA 6 video leak. The company has applied to Microsoft and Discord, requesting the disclosure of all online account records related to the posting and sharing of leaked content before the game's November release, including user data and any associated OneDrive or Xbox account data.
A subpoena application submitted to the Southern District of New York on August 20 stated: "Copyrighted materials include but are not limited to audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements." The application continued: "Take-Two has submitted an affidavit through its代理律师 confirming that the purpose of applying for a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) subpoena is to obtain the identity information of alleged infringers, and that such information will be used solely to protect Take-Two's rights..."
The petition cites a GitHub repository that published infringing content, requesting that Microsoft provide "all internal business records and investigation records related to Microsoft's internal investigation into the identity of 'cyberleek' by September 4, to identify users, individuals, and/or entities associated with that identity."
The petition continues:"Identification information for all user accounts that have communicated with the Discord servers listed below during the period from June 1, 2026, to the present; for these accounts, please provide any relevant device/telemetry records containing traces of one or more of the following tools/files. For each returned account, please provide: Account ID, registered email, registration and last login IP addresses, phone number, associated connections (Google/Xbox, etc.), any relevant device identifiers (MachineGuid/MSA), and any content related to Grand Theft Auto (GTA), Rockstar, or Cyberleek in their OneDrive account."
Discord is also required to provide records related to "all user accounts that have communicated with Discord servers" by the deadline, including accounts such as "CYBERLEEK," "CINEMATICROCKSTAR," and "Surfer24k™ (and its alternative usernames cyberleek_west, surwest)," as well as "Ødyssey.gg," "'! Odyssey' public brand guild (discord.gg/odyssey)," and "DarkViperAU editing server (discord.gg/darkviperau)."
The last server was prepared for popular Grand Theft Auto V streamer Matthew "Matt" Judge. Judge replied on X: "They asked for my Discord account and mentioned my name. I don't know anything. That wasn't my editing Discord. Neither of my two Discord servers even had clips of the leaked content. I'm confused. I did say he couldn't drive, so maybe I had him write 'Cyberleek can't drive' in the recent clip? Maybe he visited my Discord, I don't know. Rockstar hasn't emailed me yet; I think if they thought I knew any inside information, they would definitely contact me. Everyone is discussing these leaks, and I hope I'm not an isolated case."
The identity of the individual or group responsible for leaking multiple game videos, which exposed new features and previously unseen worldviews and gameplay mechanics in GTA 6, has not yet been determined.
Rockstar has not yet commented on the matter. These videos were posted under the pseudonym "Cyberleek" and disseminated via a website.
