In the GTA series, players have always been able to walk the streets fully armed without worrying about attracting the attention of in-game NPCs. However, NPCs in GTA 6 will be more alert than in previous entries, meaning that carrying weapons in public will come with consequences.
According to The New York Times' preview of GTA 6: "In this game, players can no longer pull out a shotgun or rocket launcher and casually walk down the street, expecting NPCs not to call the police."
GTA 6 will bring back the series' classic six-star wanted level. Compared to simply carrying a rocket launcher, opening fire will clearly land players in much bigger trouble. However, making NPCs react more realistically to potential threats adds a new factor that players will need to consider in their gameplay going forward.
Although the voice acting of one of the male protagonists, Jason, has received considerable negative feedback, players have praised other aspects of GTA 6, including the ability to interact with dogs and the potentially complex romantic storyline between Jason and the other protagonist, Lucia.
GTA 6 will be released on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
