According to MP1st, Capcom is close to finalizing casting for the remakes of Resident Evil: Veronica and Resident Evil 0. The leaks include both new leads and several series veterans returning to their iconic roles. While insiders familiar with the project are confident about these details, these names should be considered unconfirmed until officially announced.
Actress Stephanie Panisello will return as the lead, once again portraying Claire Redfield from Resident Evil 2 Remake as well as the two CGI spin-offs Infinite Darkness and Death Island. Sources say she will be joined by Jeff Schine, who recently portrayed Chris Redfield, last appearing in Resident Evil Village. Craig Burnatowski will also return to the role after making his debut as Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Next, let's look at the new cast members. Steve Burnside, essentially the game's third protagonist and an important ally to Claire, will reportedly be played by British actor Matthew Castle, marking his debut in the video game industry. Previously, he worked in theater and had minor roles in films such as Dumbo and Transformers: The Last Knight.
Another ally who appears at the beginning of the story alongside Claire is Rodrigo, commander of the Umbrella Security Service. According to the site, this character will be played by Vincent Kershbaum, who has worked on well-known games such as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Company of Heroes 3. Based on previous leaks, Rodrigo seems set to play a more significant role in this remake.
Of course, when discussing the plot of Code: Veronica, one cannot omit the villainous Ashford siblings: Alfred Ashford, military commander of Rockfort Island Prison, and his twin sister Alexia Ashford. Reportedly, Alfred will be played by Andrew Whieldon-Dennis, while Alexia will be portrayed by Lizbeth Herlihy. Both have considerable experience in the video game sector: Whieldon-Dennis previously collaborated with Capcom on Dragon's Dogma 2, while Herlihy worked on Dead Island 2.
Rounding out the cast list related to Resident Evil: Veronica are two actresses who will play currently undisclosed characters: Phoebe O'Donovan and Lucy Alden. Interestingly, O'Donovan was previously listed as an assistant producer in the credits for Resident Evil: Requiem, while Alden has acting experience with minor roles in major TV series such as Game of Thrones and Slow Horses.
As for the yet-unannounced Resident Evil 0 remake, the heroine Rebecca Chambers will be portrayed by Canadian star Hallie Jones, who played Eden Hawkins in the Netflix series Locke & Key. Although she is known for that role, all signs point to her true breakthrough as a lead coming with Capcom's remake, alongside John McLaren.
Furthermore, considering Albert Wesker appears in both original titles, Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica, it is expected that Craig Burnatowski will also portray Albert Wesker in this installment.
