Recently, during the Gamescom livestream, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi shared details about Vincent's character planning and combat design. Let's take a look!
Naoki Hamaguchi stated that Vincent's origins and hometown were never fully revealed in the original Final Fantasy VII, leaving players with many mysteries. In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the team will delve deeper into Vincent's past, revealing numerous previously undisclosed events to complete the story of this popular character, while also incorporating clues related to Dirge of Cerberus.
In terms of combat, Vincent is now a playable character. He uses firearms for long-range attacks in his normal form and can freely switch to a beast form to deal devastating close-range damage, with the ability to switch between the two forms at any time. Naoki Hamaguchi joked that the development team feels Vincent's controls are so good they worry players will "want to use Vincent exclusively and ignore the rest of the party."
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is scheduled for release in Spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC platforms.
