Movies Aren't All Clichés! Egyptian Thieves Successfully Steal from Truck by Tailgating at High Speed

Recently, Egypt witnessed a highway heist reminiscent of a Hollywood blockbuster, which netizens jokingly referred to as the Egyptian version of "Fast & Furious."

The incident occurred on August 25 local time on the desert highway connecting Cairo to Ismailia. A refrigerated truck carrying four tons of frozen chicken left a factory and was targeted by a six-person criminal gang during the journey.

The gang followed closely behind in a pickup truck, using the refrigerated truck to block their view. One member risked climbing out of the vehicle to use tools to open the refrigerated door, throwing boxes of frozen chicken onto the accompanying pickup to complete the theft. Both vehicles were traveling at high speed throughout the entire process.

The entire crime was filmed by a passing driver and uploaded to the internet, sparking attention and discussion among netizens worldwide.

Surprisingly, the truck driver was completely unaware that his cargo had been stolen. He only discovered that 105 kilograms of frozen chicken were missing after arriving at the destination. He later learned from the viral video online that he was unwittingly one of the main characters in the incident.

Egyptian police launched an investigation based on video clues, identifying the criminal gang. They conducted raids across multiple locations in Cairo and Qalyubia Governorate. During the arrests, the suspects opened fire on the police, leading to an intense shootout. The clash resulted in the deaths of three suspects, while another three were arrested on the spot.

Police seized the pickup truck involved, two automatic rifles, and one shotgun. They also recovered some of the stolen frozen chicken. The three arrested suspects have been handed over to the prosecutor's office, facing multiple charges including armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and assaulting police officers.
