Ubisoft has officially announced Might and Magic: Heroes III Remastered. Developed primarily by Ubisoft Chengdu and Ubisoft Shanghai, with collaborative production from Ubisoft Paris and Montpellier, the game is scheduled for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Ubisoft Store) in 2027.
Heroes of Might and Magic III: Remastered is completely rebuilt from the ground up using the Snowdrop engine, abandoning the original fixed 2D isometric view in favor of fully 3D environments with free camera control. The game supports 4K resolution, dynamic lighting, real-time weather, and seasonal changes, giving towns, wilderness areas, and tactical battlefields across the continent of Erathia a modern visual overhaul. The original game mechanics and numerical systems remain entirely unchanged, with only new planning and decision-making aids added to optimize the user experience, faithfully preserving the core gameplay of turn-based strategy, hero RPG progression, and grid-based combat.
Heroes of Might and Magic III: Remastered includes the original base game plus the two classic expansions, Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death, with all nine factions returning. The original campaigns have been reorganized into a cohesive narrative, featuring a new introductory campaign to guide new players, accompanied by newly produced cinematic cutscenes that tell the story of Queen Catherine reclaiming the Kingdom of Erathia.
The multiplayer mode supports up to 8 players online, with an upgraded matchmaking system and synchronized turn mechanics. The beloved local hot-seat mode, where players take turns on the same device, is confirmed to return. A major highlight of this remaster is its compatibility with thousands of custom maps and campaigns created by the player community over the past 25 years, allowing users to play content created by generations of fans from day one. The map editor has also been upgraded, with a new in-game mod platform added to facilitate browsing, downloading, and sharing custom content, providing comprehensive support for the long-standing community of map creators.
All audio in Heroes of Might and Magic III: Remastered has been redone, featuring updated voiceovers, layered soundtracks, and environmental effects. The game offers full Simplified Chinese localization, including complete Chinese voice acting. Xavier Poix, Senior Vice President at Ubisoft, stated that the remaster is both a tribute to the 1999 original and an effort to bring the classic to a new generation of players, while also laying the groundwork for future titles in the series.
