Tomb Raider: Ruins of Atlantis Video Reveals Skill Tree and Crafting

Recently, a behind-the-scenes video for "Tomb Raider: The Lost Legacy of Atlantis" was released, revealing new mechanics such as a skill tree and item crafting. The game is scheduled for release on February 12, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC platforms.

Behind-the-Scenes Video:

"Tomb Raider: The Lost Legacy of Atlantis" introduces an RPG-style progression system. Instead of earning experience points to unlock skills, Lara must collect scattered artifacts across the map to earn skill points, unlocking various combat and survival passive abilities. The game adds gathering and crafting mechanics; collecting herbs allows players to craft healing bandages and damage-reduction buffs. A new focus meter has been added to combat, allowing players to accumulate energy through attacks, taking damage, and dodging. Activating it slows down time, enabling special moves like backflip shooting. The development team emphasizes that the iconic dual pistols are retained, and players can complete the entire game using only dual pistols without needing firearms like submachine guns or shotguns.

However, this new design, which leans toward rebooting the survival trilogy, has sparked dissatisfaction among many long-time fans in overseas communities. Many believe that Lara is already an experienced treasure hunter and shouldn't need to relearn basic skills. Some players accept the skill tree but struggle to agree with the addition of a crafting system. Fans have stated that the original game focused on pure linear action-adventure, and they worry that adding RPG elements will change the original gameplay experience.

The developers of "Tomb Raider: The Lost Legacy of Atlantis" aim to combine the core essence of the original with modern game design, enhancing combat playability while preserving tomb puzzle-solving and exploration. The development team has not yet responded to player concerns.
