IGN Verdict:
For a long time, I have yearned for something that reaches the realm of "perfection." Onimusha: Way of the Sword deeply understands and responds to this desire. Every time I precisely execute an "Issen," successfully parry a high-risk attack, or land a combo at just the right moment, I feel a sense of accomplishment—I faced the test and succeeded.
The combat system in Onimusha: Way of the Sword is exceptionally well-designed. I was able to clear stages without relying on mechanics intended to assist progression. This isn't because those mechanics are unnecessary, but because the game gives players the space to truly grasp the essence of its action and overcome challenges through sheer willpower. Even without deliberately increasing the difficulty, I still enjoyed accompanying the various beings in this world. I consider Musashi one of the coolest and most interesting protagonists in gaming history, and I enjoyed embarking on this journey with him. I savored every creative combat encounter. My journey mirrored Musashi's, and Onimusha made this possible. The true meaning of life lies in challenge, and you must learn to love the fight!
