Bandai Namco Entertainment announced today that the popular manga adaptation "Fool's Night," co-produced for the first time by Sunrise and Shaft, will be released in its entirety on Netflix on November 26. Stay tuned.
"Fool's Night" is a sci-fi manga by Japanese manga artist Kasumi Yasuda. The story is set in the distant future, where Earth is shrouded in thick clouds, blocking out the sun, causing plants to wither and oxygen to become scarce.
Humans have developed a technology called "Flower Conversion," which transforms people into plant spirits to produce oxygen and sustain life. Those who undergo the procedure receive government subsidies and fully transform into plants after about two years.
The work centers on protagonist Jushiro and others who choose "Flower Conversion" due to poverty, depicting the choices humans face in this desperate world between surviving as humans or transforming into plants.
