Developer Undead Labs has announced that it is preparing for a new round of testing for the survival simulation game State of Decay 3. The game is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series platforms.

Following the conclusion of the closed Alpha test, the project will enter the closed Beta phase "before the end of 2026." Recruitment for participants is now open, with a Discord account being a mandatory requirement to apply. This announcement marks the studio's first public statement since separating from the Xbox Games division during Microsoft's internal restructuring.
Creative Director Kevin Patzelt shared details about the upcoming tests: "We plan to gradually open up the Alpha and closed Beta tests to more players. State of Decay 3 will feature the largest map in the series' history and a full multiplayer mode that doesn't forcibly bind players together, so we need large-scale stress tests to fine-tune our systems. If you didn't receive an invitation in the first wave, don't worry—we have multiple phases scheduled this year, open to both longtime fans and new players."
