At Gamescom 2026 this year, ASUS launched the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 series, the world's first Wi-Fi 8 gaming router. The new product line includes the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro and the ROG Rapture GT-BN98. The former targets the US and Canadian markets, while the latter covers Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and other regions. The main difference between the two lies in their slightly different band combinations.
The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 series continues the iconic "octopus" design of previous ROG family products, featuring a mecha-style appearance with a red-black and silver-gray color scheme. Eight external copper-tube antennas arranged in a ring expand the signal coverage range. Internally, it is equipped with a quad-core 2.6GHz processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and 256MB of flash memory, delivering powerful performance.
The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 series belongs to the tri-band Wi-Fi 8 routers, based on the IEEE 802.11bn standard. The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro features two 6GHz bands plus a 5GHz band and a 2.4GHz band, specifically: 2.4G (4T4R, 1376Mbps), 5G (4T4R, 5764Mbps), 6G-1 (4T4R, 11529Mbps), and 6G-2 (4T4R, 11529Mbps), providing a total wireless connection speed of 30,000 Mbps. The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 features two 5GHz bands plus a 6GHz band and a 2.4GHz band, specifically: 2.4G (4T4R, 1376Mbps), 5G-1 (4T4R, 5764Mbps), 5G-2 (4T4R, 5764Mbps), and 6G (4T4R, 11529Mbps), providing a total wireless connection speed of 25,000 Mbps.
The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 series also provides one 10G WAN/LAN port, one 10G LAN port, one 2.5G WAN/LAN port, three 2.5G LAN ports, and one Gigabit LAN port, supporting 20Gbps link aggregation. Additionally, it includes a USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port and a USB 2.0 port, supporting various operating modes such as router, AiMesh node, repeater, and media bridge.
