One female player became the sharpest spear against this double standard. She brought up the iconic RPG Baldur's Gate 3, writing: "There are so many women on social media upset because their partners want to play GTA 6, citing the addition of 'sexy girlfriends.' Meanwhile, every time I open Baldur's Gate 3, I ignore the strange looks from my husband..." She attached a screenshot of an intimate conversation with the naked vampire Astarion to visually demonstrate the game's "indecent" content. This tweet quickly garnered over 140,000 views and sparked widespread support in the comments.
Users began sharing their experiences of romancing companions in team-based RPGs, from Shadowheart and Karlach to even the druid who can turn into a bear. Most commenters agreed that video games are ultimately just interactive entertainment, and getting jealous of virtual characters or trying to restrict a partner's behavior seems absurd.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026, with a PC version to follow later.
