Well-known leaker Moore's Law Is Dead has revealed Sony's strict criteria for the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label, which only games meeting specific technical requirements can achieve.

Leaks suggest that Sony pressured Rockstar to deliver significant performance improvements for GTA 6 on the PS5 Pro. Since GTA 6 has already received the PS5 Pro Enhanced label, it must theoretically meet Sony's established standards. This has led to further speculation that GTA 6 may offer 40 FPS or even 60 FPS performance modes on the PS5 Pro.

According to their sources, they obtained a rewritten version of an internal Sony document detailing the technical requirements developers must meet to earn the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label. Allegedly, several studios, including Rockstar, have been pressured by Sony to comply with these technical standards.

A source from Moore's Law Is Dead stated: "We know that PS5 Pro Enhanced is a label GTA 6 already holds... so we know they must meet these standards... Sony explicitly stated in the document that they want to see higher frame rates, ray tracing, and higher resolutions."

According to the relevant standards, games must demonstrate clear performance improvements in resolution, frame rate, or ray tracing to earn the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. Examples include higher resolutions, higher FPS, or significantly enhanced ray tracing effects.

Moore's Law Is Dead further stated that Sony is likely pushing Rockstar to improve GTA 6's frame rate, as achieving higher frame rates on the PS5 Pro would be a major selling point for Sony's marketing. Therefore, the possibility of GTA 6 offering 40 FPS or 60 FPS modes on the PS5 Pro has increased.

It's worth noting that minor performance upgrades are not enough to earn the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. Therefore, even if GTA 6 remains capped at 30 FPS on the PS5 Pro, it doesn't mean there won't be other significant enhancements, such as higher resolution or improved ray tracing, which should theoretically be noticeably distinct from the standard PS5 version.

For reference, Digital Foundry's previous analysis indicated that GTA 6 runs at a native resolution of 1440p on the standard PS5, then upscales to 4K.
