Recently, many netizens posted on social media platforms claiming thatreceived an email from YYeTs sent to old users saying "Welcome Back Old Users."The email read: "We can finally meet on the App," and also gifted old users one month of membership.
Currently, YYeTs has been renamed "YYeTs Share Wonderful Moments" and has officially launched on the Apple App Store.
The App Store page shows thatthe app operator is Fenxiang Jingcai Network Technology (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd., and the developer is WASU Media Network Co., whose Chinese name is Wasu Media Network Co., Ltd. The latter also owns apps such as Wasu TV+ and Wasu iHome.
According to media reports, YYeTs staff stated that the platform has currently cooperated with Wasu Media, and all sources within the App are legally purchased.
Similar to current mainstream video platforms, "YYeTs Share Wonderful Moments" has also launched a paid membership service. Among them,The monthly membership costs 25 yuan, the quarterly membership 60 yuan, the annual membership 175 yuan, and the lifetime membership 888 yuan.
It is understood that YYeTs can be traced back to the subtitle group "YYeTs" established in 2003, which gradually developed into one of the platforms for many domestic users to access overseas film and television content.
In April 2009, the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television issued the "Notice on Strengthening the Management of Internet Audio-Visual Program Content," explicitly stating that "domestic and foreign film and television works without licenses shall not be disseminated on the Internet." YYeTs subsequently shut down for rectification for a period.
In October 2014, YYeTs was named as a piracy website by the Motion Picture Association of America. One month later, some of YYeTs' servers were sealed due to suspected dissemination of pirated film and television works.
In February 2021, Shanghai police issued a report stating that after three months of investigation,Shanghai police cracked a major cross-provincial case of copyright infringement involving the "YYeTs" subtitle group, with the amount involved exceeding 16 million yuan.
The report stated that 14 suspects led by Liang had been arrested, three companies involved in the case had been investigated, and 20 mobile phones, computer hosts, and servers used in the crime had been seized.
In November of the same year, the court sentenced defendant Liang to three years and six months in prison for copyright infringement and imposed a fine of 1.5 million yuan.
