Recently, we have successfully enabled DLSS 5 on older GPUs such as the RTX 40, 30, and even 20 series. Although this feature is currently limited to the RTX 50 series, NVIDIA has promised to bring NR (Neural Rendering) functionality to the RTX 40 series later. Interestingly, experts abroad have successfully enabled DLSS 5 on the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card.
Since DLSS 5 Neural Rendering's current real-time neural rendering model relies on FP8 floating-point operations, it runs perfectly on the latest generation of GPUs. This raises the question: Is it possible to enable DLSS 5 NR on AMD RDNA 5 GPUs that natively support FP8? The answer appears to be yes.
YouTuber Ancient Gameplays uploaded a video demonstrating how he enabled DLSS 5 NR on his Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card in games like Cyberpunk 2077.
The process is very simple:
First, you need to place the "dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe" file into the bin\x64 folder, for example, in games like Cyberpunk 2077.
The next step is to obtain the "nvngx_dlssnr.dll" file and place it in the same folder.
After running the "dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe" file, you need to follow some basic instructions. Then, you can launch the game and enable FSR (FSR 3 or FSR 4).
After pressing the End key to exit the overlay, you need to run the executable again and select "Update" (U) or "Remove" (R) to enable or disable DLSS 5 NR in the game.
Without DLSS 5 NR enabled, Cyberpunk 2077 can achieve over 80 FPS on the RX 9070 XT graphics card, but enabling NR causes the frame rate to plummet to 11-12 FPS.
As can be seen, DLSS 5 does significantly reduce performance due to lack of optimization. However, the mod author has since released several versions, including Alpha v0.2.7, which improved performance by 12%, allowing Cyberpunk 2077 to reach 30 FPS at 1080p resolution.
The author also noted that DLSS 5 works with Grand Theft Auto V: Enhanced Edition using the same method.
