Japanese company Capcom continues to maintain its position as one of the most successful publishers of our time. Every new release from the company lives up to player expectations, and the return of the highly anticipated classic series Onimusha is no exception.
The release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword can be considered an officially recognized success. The new title's initial popularity surpassed that of the publisher's other hit games, such as Street Fighter 6 (72,977) and Resident Evil 2 Remake (74,227). Although it fell slightly short of the record set by Devil May Cry 5 (88,894), the game's peak concurrent players on Steam exceeded 81,500.
This is an impressive achievement for a series that only veterans who experienced the PlayStation 2 "golden age" would remember. The project proves that Capcom's older IPs still hold immense commercial potential.
