GTA 6 Fishing and Hunting Systems Revealed, Different Handling for Catches

GTA 6 is rumored to feature relatively complete fishing and hunting systems. Both gameplay elements may be similar to those in Red Dead Redemption 2, but players must release any fish they catch, while hunting proceeds can be exchanged for cash.

According to reports, fishing will become a detailed side activity in the open world, allowing players to experiment with different baits and angling techniques. However, regardless of what is caught, all fish must be released back into the water and cannot be kept for consumption.

Rockstar North explained to YouTube creator TGG that allowing players to directly keep their catches does not align with the design of GTA 6. The specific mechanics have not yet been officially announced.

The hunting system is handled differently. Players are reportedly able to keep their prey and exchange their hunting hauls for cash, but it remains unclear whether the items available for sale include meat, hides, furs, or other materials.

This hunting activity will be introduced by a character Jason already knows, tying it to the game's characters and narrative context rather than making it a completely standalone minigame. Gameplay details have not yet been disclosed.

In addition to fishing and hunting, GTA 6 will also offer activities such as swimming, weightlifting at the gym, and basketball. Current information indicates that fishing is primarily a leisure activity, while hunting has clear money-making purposes.
