The first season of Prime Video's fantasy noir detective series "Spider-Noir" will become its final season due to the project's cancellation. Nevertheless, lead actor Nicolas Cage is genuinely proud of the completed work.
In an interview with Deadline, the actor commented for the first time on the series' cancellation: "In my opinion, the first season was perfect. I successfully conveyed Everythinggj I envisioned: this character is dangerous, groundbreaking, and aesthetically close to the Pop Art style." Nicolas Cage's positive attitude proves that, despite the cancellation, he is completely satisfied with what he filmed. Furthermore, although one or two plot threads were left open, the first season itself appears quite complete and self-consistent. Even if the creators originally planned a long-running story, the project works perfectly fine as a complete miniseries.
"Spider-Noir" received high praise from both professionals and fans, achieving a 92% critics score and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the series set a record on Prime Video by securing 11 Emmy Award nominations. Unfortunately, even such success couldn't save the show; due to its massive production budget and weak viewership performance, management decided to cancel the project.
Showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot already had a draft for a sequel, and Cage had preliminarily agreed to return for a second season. However, they cautiously left very few hints for a continuation, so the ending doesn't feel abruptly cut off.
