Party-Building Roguelike RPG "Dungeon Picnic" Launches Limited-Time Demo on Steam

On September 6, indie developer Lapismine released a limited-time demo for the party-building roguelike RPG Dungeon Picnic on Steam. Players can now experience the first area and form a party of four characters to begin their exploration.

The game features pixel art graphics. Players select four characters from a roster to enter the dungeon, combining randomly appearing skills and equipment into complete builds. Each run is relatively short; if the party is wiped out, all skills and equipment obtained during that run are lost, and subsequent explorations will feature randomized content.

Combat features fast-paced turn-based mechanics. Instead of individual MP, the party shares a "Mana" pool. Breaking an enemy's guard grants the party an extra turn, increases mana regeneration, and reduces mana consumption. Continuing to attack guarded enemies further boosts critical hit rate.

Combo skills between allies can trigger follow-up attacks or counterattacks, bypassing the normal turn order. Skills also have cooldowns, requiring careful management of powerful moves. However, players can build their party around cooldown mechanics, such as unleashing a special move at the cost of putting all skills on cooldown, or using specific abilities to ignore cooldown restrictions.

Dungeon exploration does not use traditional maps or branching paths; players must decide their actions based on the current situation. You can choose to conserve resources and head straight for the boss, or take on more risks by continuing to explore for additional rewards.

Dungeon Picnic is planned for release on PC, with a limited-time demo currently available on Steam. Since some specifications in the demo differ from the full version, save data cannot be carried over. The game will also participate in the Steam Next Fest starting October 19.
