Gaming media outlet Noisy Pixel publicly called out The Game Awards on social media today, questioning its jury selection mechanism. The outlet claims it has been applying via email to join the TGA jury since early 2026 but has yet to receive an official response.
In a tweet, Noisy Pixel emphasized that since its founding in 2018, the outlet has published approximately 250 to 280 game reviews annually. It maintains a stable team of full-time employees who handle all review work internally, without relying on external freelance contributors. Noisy Pixel stated, "We prioritize securing work for our employees not out of exclusion towards freelancers, but due to considerations of stability and quality control."
In addition to expressing its desire to join, Noisy Pixel included an image listing some current members of the TGA jury, pointing out that "several names could be reconsidered," implying that the qualifications or activity levels of some existing jury members are open to question. The outlet also stated that it remains very hopeful about being included in the TGA jury.
The Game Awards' jury consists of dozens of influential gaming media outlets worldwide, with their votes accounting for 90% of the award selections, while player votes make up only 10%. In recent years, the representativeness of the jury composition and the fairness of the selection process have repeatedly sparked discussion. Noisy Pixel's public statement has further brought the criteria for jury selection into the spotlight.
