According to reports, CD Projekt RED will not remove the standard edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from sale after the remaster's release. On Steam and GOG, players can revert to the regular version via the beta access feature. This decision was made primarily for owners of older PCs, as the remaster has slightly higher system requirements than the original and no longer guarantees compatibility with Windows 10.
However, CDPR stated that most players won't need to roll back, as the updated version's optimizations should deliver performance comparable to the original game on the same hardware. Thanks to improvements in the graphics engine and technical refinements, the remaster will offer better visuals without sacrificing frame rates.
The remastered version will launch on September 29 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
