At the recent fan event PSX Extreme Party 2026, Jacek Kopczyński, the Polish voice actor for The Witcher series, revealed that he has recorded some lines for The Witcher 4, though his role is not extensive. Kopczyński has been voicing Dandelion since the first game in 2007.
Kopczyński stated that he is not entirely clear about the extent of his role in The Witcher 4, but speculates that Dandelion may appear as a minor character or in a narrator-like capacity. This speculation is not without basis—in Andrzej Sapkowski's original novels, Dandelion is the bard who chronicles the witcher's adventures, with most legends about Geralt spread through his ballads. According to previous official announcements, Ciri is the protagonist of The Witcher 4, and Geralt will also make an appearance.
Notably, Kopczyński revealed that he has not been involved in any work on The Witcher 3 expansion, The Old Song, having neither received invitations for script readings nor started recording. However, the English voice actors for the expansion (Doug Cockle as Geralt and John Schwab as Dandelion) have completed their recording sessions, learning about the expansion's existence only while recording lines for The Witcher 4.
Kopczyński explained that this discrepancy in progress may be related to the production workflow. Dialogue is typically recorded only after the script is fully finalized, as any changes would require rework. Therefore, the Polish version of the expansion has not yet entered the recording phase.
Kopczyński admitted that, on one hand, he is pleased that the expansion centers around Dandelion, keeping the character alive in players' memories; on the other hand, he hopes to truly "perform" as Dandelion rather than having the character serve as background in someone else's story. This concern is somewhat surprising given that The Old Song's narrative is precisely centered on Dandelion.
There was also a touching moment at the event: when asked by the audience if he would be willing to sing a song for Dandelion comparable to "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher," Kopczyński stated that he loves singing and would be happy to record a song for the expansion, though he was unsure if anyone would want to hear it.
The Old Song is expected to launch in 2027, with The Witcher 4 following thereafter. Given that voice recording for The Witcher 4 has already begun while Polish dubbing for The Witcher 3 expansion has not yet started, it is evident that CD Projekt RED's current focus has shifted toward the sequel.
