Recently, Valve released the Steam Hardware Survey results for August 2026. This month, the GeForce RTX 3060 continues to lead the pack, followed closely by the GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop, with the GeForce RTX 5070 breaking into the top three. Based on current trends, the GeForce RTX 5070 has a chance to challenge for the second spot next month.
In terms of specific GPU models, the RTX 3060 tops the list with a 3.92% share, an increase of 0.04 percentage points; the RTX 4060 Laptop remains in second place with a 3.84% share, up by 0.2 percentage points; the RTX 5070 rises from fourth to third with a 3.77% share, gaining 0.15 percentage points; the RTX 4060 drops one spot to fourth with a 3.60% share, down by 0.03 percentage points; the RTX 3050 holds steady at fifth with a 3.21% share, decreasing by 0.01 percentage points; the RTX 5060 stays in sixth place with a 3.16% share, up by 0.13 percentage points; the RTX 5060 Laptop jumps from tenth to seventh with a 2.66% share, increasing by 0.47 percentage points; the RTX 5060 Ti remains in eighth place with a 2.55% share, up by 0.15 percentage points; the GTX 1650 falls from seventh to ninth with a 2.49% share, down by 0.12 percentage points; and the RTX 4060 Ti drops from ninth to tenth with a 2.37% share, up by 0.01 percentage points.
Currently, the share of the GeForce RTX 50 series has increased to 17.88%, up 1.27 percentage points from the previous month. In comparison, the AMD Radeon RX 9000 series holds a 2.48% share, up 0.13 percentage points from last month, with the Radeon RX 9070 XT (1.48%), Radeon RX 9070 (0.20%), and Radeon RX 9060 XT (0.80%) ranking in the top three. This means that the combined market share of NVIDIA and AMD's current generation of gaming GPUs has surpassed 20%, reaching 20.36%.
In this survey, Intel and AMD CPU shares are 53.53% and 46.47% respectively, with AMD's share continuing to rise. In terms of core count, 8-core CPUs remain in first place at 28.04%, up 0.19 percentage points from last month, while 6-core CPUs account for 27.43%, down 0.09 percentage points. 16GB RAM remains the mainstream choice for Steam players at 41.20%, followed by 32GB RAM at 37.45%, narrowing the gap between the two. Regarding operating systems, Windows 11 holds a 70.97% share, up 0.71 percentage points and remaining above 70%, while Windows 10 stands at 22.90%.
