The brand-new domestic single-player title "Tianji Xing: Shadow of the Ancient Dynasty," supervised by Tsai Ming-hung, the "Father of the Xuan-Yuan Sword series," has officially released its first PV today. The game is scheduled for release in 2027 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
This marks the first publicly revealed single-player new work from Tsai Ming-hung since leaving Softstar Entertainment and bidding farewell to the "Xuan-Yuan Sword" IP, which he had cultivated for over thirty years.
First PV:
"Tianji Xing: Shadow of the Ancient Dynasty" is a turn-based RPG set against the backdrop of the Tang Dynasty. The story takes place during the Tianbao era of the Great Tang. Players assume the role of Shangguan Shuo, an amnesiac member of the Tianji Guard, who embarks on a journey to uncover his origins using a fish tally token and a peculiar mask. While investigating the suspicious organization "Xuanxin Sect," Shangguan Shuo gradually discovers that he seems to have intricate connections with the group.
Building upon classic RPG gameplay, this title features "combos" as its combat core, balancing satisfying impact with tactical strategy. Players can leverage mechanics such as weakness exploitation, vulnerability, and follow-up attacks, combining different skills, equipment, and Spirit Core effects to fight in their own style and rhythm.
Additionally, the game incorporates some ACT design concepts, adding mechanics like climbing, swimming, and puzzle-solving to enrich the level exploration experience. Players can switch between day and night in towns, with different events, items, and NPCs available depending on the time of day.
Each party member in the game possesses unique specialties, assisting the protagonist with cooking, refining equipment, upgrading Spirit Cores, and even selling rare items. As their personal side stories progress, their specialized abilities will also grow.
"Tianji Xing: Shadow of the Ancient Dynasty" is expected to launch officially in 2027 on PC and console platforms.
